Preparations are Underway
With the anticipation of your arrival, I'm getting all the fun things in place, like a place to sleep, plans for meal, sorting out your budgets, transportation, etc. A big piece of the puzzle was put in place this morning when I secured reservations at a local hostel.

Internet access
Internet in rural Peru is limited. Below you'll find the availability for each of your locations.
Los Angeles: There is not a place in town that currently has internet. There is limited cell phone signal (I will provide a phone).
San Jose de Quero: There is internet in the hostel. It is extremely slow, and works most of the time. Last summer the internet went out for 2 weeks. The local phone in town does work. Currently there is no cell phone signal.
Iquitos: There are internet cafes all over town and places to call the States.
Canta: There isn't internet access in Huaros, the town outside of Canta where you will be staying. About 45 minutes away there is internet access.
Recuay: There are internet cafes in Recuay. The internet is not fast, but usable. There are also plenty of places to places calls to the US.

Will I need a Visa to get into Peru?
You will enter Peru on a 90 day tourist visa that will be stamped in your passport when you arrive. You don't need to do any work ahead of time for this.
I'll send you an email with detailed instructions for filling out the forms on the plane, working through customs and immigrations and finding me at the airport amongst the masses.
