Will I need a Visa to get into Peru?
You will enter Peru on a 90 day tourist visa that will be stamped in your passport when you arrive. You don't need to do any work ahead of time for this.
I'll send you an email with detailed instructions for filling out the forms on the plane, working through customs and immigrations and finding me at the airport amongst the masses.

What will the weather be like?
In the mountains this summer, it will be mostly comfortable during the day. I typically wear a long sleeved tshirt with an extra layer handy for when the sun goes behind a cloud or for inside. In the evenings, the temperature will drop quickly as the sun goes down. You'll want to add at least a layer. In the evenings, it's common for me to wear a long sleeve tshirt (or two), a fleece and my jacket. I know that it sounds like you will need lots of clothes, but you don't. Layer and rewear is the key. The Quechua you will be working amongst have very, very few clothes and sometimes wear everything they own at the same time.
In Iquitos it's a totally different story. It won't be cold at all! You'll want short sleeves, lightweight pants, a light jacket. Guys, you may wear shorts, not a problem culturally. Ladies, life is a little different for you. If you want to bring shorts to wear within the confines of your room, that is not a problem, but culturally, it is not appropriate for you to wear them in public. Capris and lightweight skirts will be fine for something cooler to wear. You will want some warmer clothes for Lima. A fleece and some close toed shoes would be good.

What is REAP North?
REAP North is a team of missionaries serving with the IMB responsible for the northern part of Peru. We mobilize US churches to adopt a people group (or portion of a people group) and become the missionary to them. There are simply not enough full time missionaries to be able to reach all the people of Peru. We mobilize and utilize students to live and work in adopted villages between the Strategy Coordinator church trips.
REAP is an acronym for....
R
- Research- Identify, locate, investigate and segment people groups in preparation for engagement.
People group approach – Research an assigned people group. Use internet and other sources to research people group in preparation for engagement using the attached research criteria.
Geographical approach – Research of an area that is potentially accessible by Strategy Coordinator church volunteer teams, identifying what people groups are there and investigating them using the attached research criteria.
- Recruit – Strategy coordinator (S.C.) churches and other short term missionaries to engage people group segments. Most of our S.C. churches have come from our own contacts.
E
- Equip – Train S.C. churches and other short term missionaries to plant multiplying Great Commission churches.
Evangelism – Methodology, contextualization of the message. Barriers and Bridges.
Discipleship training – Methodology, criteria obedience based. Important issues.
Leadership training – Criteria, important issues. Leadership training conferences.
A
- Assist – S.C. churches with logistical needs. Including but not limited to: translators, lodging, transportation, Bibles, tracts and other supplies
P

San Jose de Quero: Accommodations
Hellooo team Quero!
I have pictures of your home for the summer. This is the only hostel in San Jose de Quero. It is fairly typical for Peru.
You will have indoor plumbing and running water. Sorry the picture is a little dark
No buildings in Peru have heating, but there is always a good wool blanket or two on the bed. You will want to bring a sleeping bag!

The food is great and it's only $1.35 for lunch!
This sweet lady, Maruja, will meet you when you arrive. Here she is pictured with her father, the former mayor of town. You'll want to get to know these folks!
